What is the price of a glucometer in Pakistan?
At CareBridge Medical, glucometers cost Rs 1,360 to Rs 4,450. Accu-Chek Active is Rs 4,450, Accu-Chek Instant S is Rs 3,200 and budget meters such as UCheck and Atom AT-600 cost Rs 1,520 to Rs 2,480.
Which glucometer is most accurate?
Any meter that meets ISO 15197:2013 is accurate enough for home use. How you test (clean hands, fresh strips, a good blood drop) affects accuracy more than the brand.
Can I use any strips with my glucometer?
No. Each glucometer only works with its own strips. Accu-Chek Active strips only fit the Accu-Chek Active meter, and Atom AT-600 strips only fit the Atom AT-600.
How often should I check my blood sugar?
It depends on your treatment. People on insulin often test several times a day, while people with type 2 diabetes on tablets may test a few times a week. Follow your doctor's plan.
Why is my glucometer reading different from the lab?
Home meters are allowed a difference of up to 15% from lab results, and labs often test blood from a vein rather than a fingertip. Small differences are normal. Large ones usually mean dirty hands, old strips or a too-small blood drop.
